JomSocial Integration
Posted Friday, 26 February 2010 By Frank Kelly
I like the simplicity of this component and wonder how difficult it would be to include some integration with JomSocial ...
I would like to see member avatar support with linking to the members profile. Also an 'application that could display the user post in their profile, adding of posts to the activity stream and awarding of JS user points upon posts would be nice.
Set moderator to receive notifications of New Posts
Posted Sunday, 26 October 2008 By Scott
I'm assuming this capability doesn't exist currently (at least, I couldn't find it).
We're going to require that all new posts are approved by a "moderator" - so it would be great if we could set an email (or a Joomla! user) to receive notifications of ALL new posts. This would make it much easier to moderate, since she/he wouldn't have to login every day to check for new posts, but could instead just deal with them as they come in (we're not expecting really heavy volume).
Thanks,
Scott
email address field - allow non-Joomla! users to "subscribe"
Posted Sunday, 26 October 2008 By Scott
Our site isn't really the type where we'll have people register as users (at least, not at the moment - I suppose that could change)... so currently there's no way for visitors to "subscribe" to a thread, even if they started it.
It would be great if an (optional) email address field could be added to the post form, along with a checkbox for "subscribe to the thread" so that visitors could subscribe to threads in which they're interested.
I suppose this would also require the ability to allow visitors to subscribe to existing threads by asking for their email address when the click the "subscribe" link if they're not logged in (thinking about the fact that lot's of folks probably are using this on sites where visitors register).
Thanks,
Scott
protected topics

Hi,
what about feature that will make some topics accessable only to registered users or so? I want to have few topics to by readable only by registered (approved) users.
By the way, excellent job with simplest forums!
Links are a must, please
Posted Thursday, 30 October 2008 By Jay
This is a great forum but its hard to tell people not to do something like, dont post links. It's only so natural to add a link every now and then especially for something link a forum where you share information, usually through links.
Other than that, Id hate to have to use another forum because this one is just perfectly concepted.
Bread Crumbs?

sticky or notice or rules

This is absolutely a great forum! Simple and straightforward, little less and no more than is needed in many small websites. Like Jonathan Cameron's Attachments, this component makes you wonder why so many Joomla developers use complicated large extensions to perform the simple tasks of offering a few downloads and a little support.
But a few basic things are missing to make this not only a simply effective but also a top quality extension. Aside from the breadcrumbs and the links already mentioned in other posts here, there are three features that I think are a must:
1. In the descriptions of the subforums and in the menu item's pre-text it would be nice to be able to insert links and line breaks.
2. In posts I think it is essential that there is support for code display.
3. It would be great if you could make a plugin for sh404 or another search engine friendly urls component.
Cheers!
allow to edit own posts
Posted Friday, 31 October 2008 By techie1
Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to tweak the code so that the registered users can edit their own posts. Sometimes a spelling or style error need to be corrected by the author, which is not available now.
Thanks for developing this great component.

the forum http://tinyeden.org/index.php?option=com_simplestforum&view=forumlist&Itemid=93 is a forum run by pedophiles justifying the rape and abuse of young boys. Please have the administrators of these facilities block and delete these scum.
